The race encompasses an individual competition, with male and female divisions. There is also an option to run a half marathon - the Frozen Continent Half Marathon - which commences at the same time as the marathon. This three-day itinerary will see competitors fly by private jet from Punta Arenas, Chile, to the marathon location at Union Glacier, Antarctica.

The Frozen Continent Half-Marathon offers participants the chance to cover 21km (13.1 miles) on the 'white continent'. This race is the southernmost half marathon on the planet, run concurrently with the Antarctic Ice Marathon. The course consists of snow and ice, subjecting runners to extreme cold and potential strong winds.
