| Description: | The Emder Silvesterlauf (New Year's Eve Run) is an annual running event that takes place around the harbor of Emden. Participants can choose between different running and Nordic walking distances. The event is known for its scenic routes and festive atmosphere.
The 5 km route starts at the Hafentor in Emden and leads towards the harbor, over the railway crossing, and then left. Runners pass thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and go through a trough section with significant inclines. Turning right, the course goes out of town for about 800 m to the turning point. The return journey does not go through the trough section but straight through the city. From the town hall, it's about 300 m to the finish line at the Hafentor.
